We had a great evening on Monday 1st November with our special guest Louise Shanahan who represented Ireland at the Tokyo Olympics in the 800m and is studying for a PhD in Physics here at Cambridge. The Varsity newspaper have done a nice interview with Louise before the Olympics if you’d like to know more of her story.
The evening started for the Junior academy trying to run in relays faster than Louise’s 800m PB time, then Ric Park handed out medals to those young athletes who have competed for the club this year, bronze, silver and gold depending on the number they attended.
Then Noel Moss ran through the traditional prize winners presentation.
The overall best performance trophy this year was awarded to Holly Archer for her Silver medal for the 1500m at the European Indoor championships earlier in the year. Unfortunately Holly is away warm weather training at the moment with her sights firmly set on next year’s Commonwealth games qualification.
The evening finished with a Q&A session with Louise.
