What an amazing achievement! Well done to everyone concerned.
At the same XC championship the Senior Men ran a great race to earn the bronze medal. C&C fielded a quartet of big names; Thomas Keen (Leg 1), Jonathan Escalante-Phillips (Leg 2), Jack Gray (Leg 3) and Callum Elson (Leg 4). The guys finished the 20km course in a gun time of 01:00:44.714 which was a great result out of a field of 164 teams. It was particularly great to see Callum back competing after his unfortunate achilles injury which meant that he had to miss the whole of the outdoor track and field season.
The Senior Women’s team of Louise Shanahan (Leg 1), Katie Lowery (Leg 2) and Bea Wood (Leg 3) were narrowly beaten to the bronze medal by Aldershot Farnham & District B.
U20 athlete Jenny Leggate competed for England at the EnergyVision Cross Cup, Roeselare, Belgium on the 27 October 2024. Jenny ran a strong race which was rewarded with a fifth place finish just one second behind her English teammate. At the same competition Jack Gray competed for England in the Senior Men’s team. The club were also represented by Jo Newcombe who was one of the team managers for the event.
In the USA Shannon Flockhart and her teammates finished second in the BIG EAST XC Championships. Shannon represents her university team Providence College and Shannon finished an impressive eighth.
