Our Club Prize-Giving evening is over for another year, but what an evening it was! We had much to celebrate with so many really outstanding Team and individual performances over 2023/24. In some cases we are now National Champions and we will be defending those titles in the months ahead. Indeed, that is the case this very weekend (Saturday 2nd) as we arrive at the National Cross Country relays as the reigning Champions. Very, very best of luck to our teams at Mansfield. Have a great day!

Awards and recognition keep coming for some of our athletes as many have been selected for Best Performances at County level, or being awarded their County Colours, at the Cambridgeshire Athletics Awards evening, coming up soon. It’s also lovely to see that some of our Officials are to receive recognition for their work at this ceremony. Well done to all.
In addition to all this, we have a number of athletes that have been selected for The England Athletics Talent Pathway. This is really excellent news, and shows the caliber of athlete and coaches that we have at C&C.
Here are another couple of very notable performances to let you know about:

- Ultra runner Chris Kelly has had another remarkable success! Earlier this year he won the 145 mile Grand Union Canal Race, and last weekend he won a 24 hour race in France (The 24 hour d’Albi). He covered 271.9 km. which we believe puts him 4th in the UK all-time list!
- In the space of just a few weeks, Hannah Irwin set two National Records. She set a new Northern Island 10k record of 31:51, and then followed that up a few weeks later with a new Half Marathon mark of 70:45. Well done Hannah!
This weekend also sees the 2nd race in the Frostbite series. This one is at Nene Park, Peterborough. It’s a 9.45 start for Juniors, 10.30 for the Senior race. We finished 3rd out of 18 teams in the first race, lets get those white and blue vest out in force this weekend and see if we can do even better this time!
Finally, if you weren’t at the AGM, it’s possible that you may not be aware that Neil Costello stepped down as Club President. After over a decade as Club Chair, and then several more years as President, Neil’s influence on the Club has been immense. Happily, he’ll still be around though, the club really wouldn’t be same without him!

Have a wonderful November!
