C&C road relay teams had some excellent results in the Southern Road Relays at Aldershot on the 21st September 2024. The medal tally was gold for the senior men and the U15 boys and silver for the senior women.
The U15 boys A team consisted of Finn Maclennan who ran leg one in a time of 9:17.547 passing on to the second leg runner Harry Cantell who ran leg two in 09:49.190. Harrison Pearson ran the final leg in a time of 09:22.738 to secure gold for the team. Seventy one teams across the Southern Region took part. C&C’s overall time was 28:29.475 with Dacorum coming in second with a total time of 28:37.88 and Herne Hill Harriers in third with a time of 28:48.240.

Such is the strength of the club there was also a B team which finished fifty sixth with only two runners.
The senior men’s team consisted of six athletes :Thomas Bridger, Nathan Mapperley, Jack Gray, Josh Carr, Dominic Jones and Jonathan Escalante Phillips. There was a strong field of 103 teams! The team’s total time was 1:48:36.203

Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers won the silver medal in 1:49.07.797 with local rivals Bedford & County AC in third with a time of 1:50.01.401. Again the club managed to field a B team that was placed twenty sixth out of the 103 teams.
In the Senior Women’s team mother and daughter Jennifer and Ellen Leggate made up fifty percent of the team, running second and third legs respectively with Emily Ruane on first leg and Katie Lowrie on last leg ensuring that the team finished second out of fifty five teams. Their total time was 1:26:32.919.

There was also strong results from the B and C teams finishing nineteenth and fifty first despite the C team only having two team members instead of four.
Ivy Orton made up a team of her own finishing twenty fourth on her leg. Well done Ivy!
The U17 women (Keira Shaw, Juliette Hames and Lexi Harrison) had a strong race with a top ten finish.
