Road Running

We have a big road running section which takes part in many events throughout the UK and abroad.

The standard covers the full range from impressively quick to really quite slow and the age range runs from late teens to 70s. We enjoy running and competing with each other and other people. We aim to have fun as well as to run to the best of our abilities. For more specific information, please click on one of the tabs below, according to your needs and interests.

Upcoming Road Running Events

Women’s Running Group

We are a supportive, relaxed, and friendly group that runs every Monday evening. We meet at Cambridge University Wilberforce Road Running Track at 6:20pm for a 6:30pm start.

Our continuous running sessions are roughly 3-5 miles, but we also do speed work, hill sprints, and track sessions. We can cater for runners of all speeds and abilities and no one gets left behind through our ‘loop-back’ strategy. This group has two qualified coaches and two qualified leaders, so you will get pointers on your running style, a thorough post-run stretch, and advice regarding other aspects of training or race preparation. Some of us have enjoyed running together for many years, and are very keen to welcome new runners.

If you want to find out more information please do not hesitate to contact the Womens Running Group.

Monday Night Running Group – Beginners Welcome

This mixed ability group is primarily aimed at runners of about 9 minutes per mile and above. We welcome beginners to running of all abilities. Just turn up and introduce yourself to the group leader.

We meet in the Clubhouse foyer of the Wilberforce Road Cambridge University Athletics Ground from 6:30 pm ready to run at 6:45 pm. Sessions finish at approximately 8 pm.

Coaching is carried out on a rota basis by a combination of qualified running coaches/leaders and information about each session is posted on the website training calendar.

Sessions are based on hill work, intervals and continuous running; no one is left behind as we organise the sessions to avoid this. All sessions start with a warm up, drills and skills, main session and supervised stretching to finish. We can also advise on training/racing.

We are friendly lot, so if you decide to give us a try, please make yourself – and any running goals you may have – known to the leader on the night.
